The momentum created at these events directly funds Shield Grants that are given to public, private and charter schools so they can make facility upgrades such as bullet-resistant window film, upgraded door locks, security cameras, and other essential safety measures. Each school has a different need, and they can use the money on any security item of their choosing so long as it aligns with the mission of SOS: to mitigate or prevent school shootings.
